29 April 2009
Five more case studies exploring different aspects of the planning and delivery of school rebuilding and refurbishment projects across the country have been added to the recently launched suite of Building Schools for the Future case studies.
This month’s new case studies are:
- How Devon County Council and NPS South West are delivering a 21st century schools whilst minimising the impact on the environment (sustainability);
- Sunderland’s education vision which encompasses vocational training, collaboration between education providers and professional development opportunities for the workforce (education vision);
- The role played by teachers, governors and students in the creation - and operation - of BSF’s first ‘school-within-a-school’ learning environment, Brislington Enterprise College in Bristol (school teams);
- How a new co-located school campus in Islington, London will facilitate carbon, energy and water reduction, waste management and biodiversity, and also how transport issues have been addressed in the bid to support energy reduction (sustainability).
The first BSF audio case study with members of Teddington School and the London Borough of Richmond talking about their Pilot Zone which allows them to test possible furniture and technology choices ahead of their new school opening is also now available in the ICT section.
